Katrina Amon – Pippies
Yuguri
I am a very proud Quandamooka woman from the Noonuccal tribe. Jandai language is my language, and Quandamooka means ‘Sea Spirit’. I am from Minjerribah, and you may know this as North Stradbroke island. When I was young my grandmother would take me fishing. Before we would go we would go out to the back beach to get pippies for bait. We would go to the edge of the water and do the twist in the sand. The pippies would then come to the surface.
This is my Yuguri, and you may know them as pippies.
